PEDESTRIAN RECOVERS NEARLY A QUARTER OF A MILLION DOLARS
 
In January 2008, a woman was crossing the street in the City of Central Falls within the designated crosswalk.  She was crossing to pick up a child that was getting out from school.  An inpatient motorist drove around the vehicle in front of him on the right and struck our client.  The force of the collision caused her to sustain a nondisplaced temporal bone fracture.  An audiogram revealed a decreased ability to hear in her left ear.  In just nine months time, one day short of a scheduled mediation, our firm recovered the sum of $225,000.00.  This sum represented approximately $125.00 per week for the rest of her life based upon an expected life expectancy of an additional 35 years.

In June of 2006 a motorcyclist was seriously injured in an accident when an 18 wheeler turned left in front of her right of way in Franklin Massachusetts.  Our client sustained a shoulder injury and an injury to her ankle both of which necessitated surgery.  We took an aggressive approach on the case by filing a Superior Court lawsuit immediately and litigated the case in court against their attorneys as opposed to handling it as just a claim with the insurance company.  We referred her to a medical doctor for evaluation which resulted in him documenting a 36% permanent impairment rating.  Our efforts resulted in a negotiated settlement in lieu of a Superior Court Jury Trial that was next to be scheduled in the amount of $450,000.00.



MOTORIST CLOSES A SIX FIGURE DEAL FOR BACK SURGERY
 
Our client was driving his car with the right of way when another motorist negligently ran a stop sign injuring our client.  Conservative treatment through physical therapy, chiropractic, psychiatric treatment and acquatic therapy proved to be ineffective.  After exhausting conservative treatment options, our client underwent a laminectomy to his lower lumbar which relieved his symptoms of radiculophathy but left him with a 6 cm scar.  We convinced the other side to participate in a pre litigation mediation session.  This resulted in a recovery in the amount of $125,000.00.

Our client was a teenage boy waiting one morning in a parking lot for his ride to school.  Another student recklessly accelerated in the parking lot and pulled up his emergency brake to show off and peel out.  The motorist lost control of his car which struck our client rendering him unconscious.  We referred our client to a chiropractic physician who conducted conservative therapy.  When our client continued to have knee pain the doctor sent him for an MRI which revealed a grade 2 partial tear in his ACL.  An orthopedic surgeon performed an othroscopic procedure to repair his knee.  We maxed out the policy limit of the at fault driver at $100,000.00 and then pursued an under-insured motorist claim against our client's household policy for an additional $100,000.00 for a total recovery of $200,000.00.   We sought court approval of the settlement as our client was a minor and appointed a guardian ad litem who approved putting the money into a high rated annuity which resulted in even more money.


 
SLIP AND FALL VICTIM RECEIVES SIX FIGURE SETTLEMENT
 
Our client fell on a frozen tire rut in Providence after participating in a job interview one winter.  He sustained a displaced fracture to his leg requiring surgery and resulting in scarring, disfigurement and deformity as well as permanent impairment.  Although liability was initially contested as it is in most slip and fall cases, we convinced the other side to participate in a mediation session.  This resulted in a settlement of $125,000.00.
